Recognize the retirement of Fr. Wolff

The Rev. William G. Wolff, priest at St. Peters Episcopal Church in Pittsburg since 2005, will lead his final Holy Communion service Sunday Aug. 7, 2016, at the church, 306 W. Euclid,

The retiring cleric and his wife Lu will be cited during a dinner, gift presentation and reminiscence following the Eucharist. Special music will be directed by Organist/choirmaster Sandra Turley.

Fr. Wolff is the second-longest serving priest in the history of St. Peters, which became a parish of the Episcopal Diocese of Kansas in 1882. Before his ordination to the priesthood, he was associate director of the research department of the Kansas Legislature. He has been a faculty member at the University of Kansas and Washburn University, has taught courses at Kemper School of Religion, and been a leader at Grace Cathedral, Topeka. During his St. Peters tenure the church has aided area Habitat for Humanity and anti-alcoholism efforts, begun a weekly meal through the Follow Me Inn caf for the needy, and increased the churchs involvement and outreach, music ministry, often in cooperation with Pittsburg State University faculty and students.

Parish members from Ft. Scott, Joplin, Girard and elsewhere will attend the 9 30 a.m. service and recognition. All area residents are welcome.
