How to sign up for curbside recycling
May 21, 2016
Joplin customers still may register for curbside recycling from Republic Services. The additional cost of $4.75 per month added to the monthly trash charge of $11.73 would bring the total cost to $16.48 per month.

Participating residents will receive a 96-gallon polycart with a light blue lid to distinguish it from the regular polycart's royal blue lid. Recycling will be serviced the same day as trash but by a different truck and at a different time. Service started in June will be on a bill mailed out in July.

The following items will be accepted in the curbside recycling program and mixed all together in the light blue lid cart: aluminum cans, trays & foils; steel, tin, and empty aerosols cans; plastic #1, 2, 3, 4, 5 & 7 bottles and buckets; paper and newspapers; and cardboard and chipboard. All items need to be clean, empty and dry, plus cardboard boxes need to be flattened.

Glass and Styrofoam will not be accepted in the curbside recycling program. However, glass bottles, jars, or jugs (containers) will still be accepted at the Joplin Recycling Center located at 1310 W. A Street. The Recycling Center is open noon to 6 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays; and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
